Behind the Sommer & Kinder label is Miriam Sommer, together with her three children. They’re not just the family behind the brand — they’re an active part of it, serving as a source of inspiration, product testers, creative directors, and motivational coaches for the label’s children’s knitwear collection. Miriam built her considerable expertise through a tailoring apprenticeship, a degree in fashion design, and hands-on experience that includes a stint at Vivienne Westwood. A dedicated knitting team based in Thuringia rounds out the operation.
Timeless Kidswear, Built to Last
At the heart of Sommer & Kinder is a simple idea: create high-quality, timeless, comfortable children’s clothing — practical homewear for everyday life. That’s achieved through classic cuts, quality materials, and appealing colors, patterns, and textures. Every step, from concept to production, is handled with real care and attention to detail. The entire collection is made in Germany, with an emphasis on handcraft and fine natural materials like merino wool and organic cotton.
