At Windscheidstraße 25 in Berlin-Charlottenburg, a red flag bearing a white rabbit flutters above a small shop whose window already hints at the range within. And indeed, Hase Weiss stocks more or less everything a happy childhood requires. Owner and designer Anna Pfeiffer, the mind behind the brand, has shaped her creations largely around the needs and wishes of her own two children — and, determined to hold to her own standards of timelessness, quality, and socially conscious production, decided to simply take matters into her own hands.
Inventive Design, Built to Last
Trained as an architect and equipped with the know-how to match, Pfeiffer first developed a practical, high-quality, quietly elegant furniture system. The pieces are designed to combine in countless ways and, ideally, follow a child from the nursery into student digs and beyond — always reinterpreted, always finding a new role. A beloved children’s stool, for instance, becomes a handy kitchen shelf or a stylish bedside table with barely any effort at all.
Conceived as lifelong companions, the furniture puts timeless design and top-tier quality front and centre — standards that extend just as much to the toys, books, craft supplies, and clothing that have quickly rounded out the Hase Weiss range.
Every product follows the same rules: quality materials, no synthetic or polyester filling, and socially responsible manufacturing with established makers, often in workshops that employ people with disabilities. Alongside her own designs, Anna Pfeiffer now also carries pieces from other makers she particularly admires — wonderfully old-fashioned toys (a conductor’s play set from East Germany, for one) sit alongside inventive creations from young designers (skin-friendly temporary tattoos, among them), adding to the shop’s singular charm.
